The Best of Scenic Tuscany tour with Tuscan trip is a full day excursion in a part of Tuscany known so famously for the rolling hills, tall cypress trees, medieval hilltop villages, wine vineyards, olive groves, and quite simply some of the best scenic landscapes you’ll see in Italy. Come with us to enjoy sightseeing, wine tastings, and stops* in the Tuscan towns of Pienza, Montalcino, and Montepulciano.
The Val d’Orcia area where we will be visiting is located in the southern region of Tuscany and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With views that have impressed everyone from Renaissance painters to Hollywood,
you’ll fall in love with this area as we stop for photo ops, visit two different wineries to learn about and have tastings of some of the most superb Italian wines, enjoy dining on typical Italian food of the region at a local trattoria, and the chance to visit a Benedictine Abbey or small old-world village absent of the tourist crowds.
Pienza is a quintessential Renaissance town and the birthplace of Pope Pius II. Upon his election to the papacy he had the village rebuilt to be used as a retreat from Rome and is the first example of urban planning.
Montalcino is a Tuscan hilltop town once known for its tanneries and leather goods, it is now famous for its Brunello wine made from the Sangiovese grapes. The Brunello di Montelcino wine was the first ever to receive the DOCG label and is aged at least 5 years before it is released to be sold.
